A Magnetic Drum Separator basically comprises of a non-magnetic drum enclosed with either standard or rare earth magnets. • Rare Earth Magnets: They are very powerful magnets used for separation when iron is present in very fine form or where the contaminants have a weak magnetic field. Rare Earth Magnets are five times stronger than the ceramic one.

The Commonly Used Magnetic Drums Are: 

• Single Drum Separators: As is indicated by the name itself, there is only one magnetic drum in these kinds of separators used for purifying the raw materials.
• Double Drum Magnetic Separators: They are used for treating raw materials which require a greater deal of purification. There are two drums to ensure this.
